Runway

I designed Runway to be a part of the House Movements type collection that was released along with the House Industries monograph. The idea of that collection was to summarize the various typographic “movements” that House Industries had experienced in their first 10 years of business. Runway is an ode to House’s sans serif obsession of the early 2000s. The letterforms themselves were inspired by a classic sign in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

For a few years after its release I saw Runway used quite a bit and I had hopes that we would expand it into a multi-weight family. We never got around to that, unfortunately. It’s still fun to use if you need a light weight, really wide, all caps modern sans. Who doesn’t need that?
